While modern medical science has rapidly advanced our ability to diagnose and treat illness and disease, there are many shortcomings and the cost of healthcare is staggering.
We understand the workings of cells and genes and bio-chemicals better than ever and yet the incidences of heart disease, obesity, cancer, autism, chronic pain, chronic fatigue and stress related illness continue to increase. The US ranks next to last in newborn mortality in the developed world (CNN). New strains of infection run wild, even in the best hospitals. Our aging population is expecting more care and too often getting less.
More and more people find themselves frustrated by the system, disappointed in the quality of care they receive or locked out altogether. The caregivers are also frustrated by the limitations of the managed care system and the lack of compassion in the process.
Even those who have been skeptical about alternative healing are now acknowledging that it is a good companion to traditional medicine. They’re seeing that it can mitigate the side effects of pharmaceuticals and help people to recover faster from illness and surgery.
Those of us who have experienced the benefits of alternative healing first hand do not need scientific studies to prove its value. We know what works for us. We also know that the healing process is not always linear and predicable, and what works for one person may not be exactly right for another. Alternative healers are trained or guided to “tune in” to individual situations and direct their attention where it will do the most good. The healing often takes place at the root cause of the illness, not just where the symptoms manifest themselves.
Many people have turned to alternative healing as a last resort after all else has failed and many of these people have experienced healing “miracles.” We would like to see alternative healing embraced earlier in the process and welcomed as a complement to traditional care.
Many alternative healing modalities are preventative in nature, providing substantial wellness benefits by helping to boost immunity, increase vitality and remove the unhealthy habits and limiting beliefs that lead to illness and disease. It’s a joyous, self-empowering process to remove the hidden obstacles to good health and happiness.
We also believe that our healthcare system is at risk of being overwhelmed in the event of a flu pandemic or a large scale catastrophe or natural disaster. We need more alternative healers who do not rely on vaccines, pharmaceuticals, surgery, high-tech diagnostic equipment, hospitals or even electricity to do their work.
With your help, we provide financial support to these compassionate healers so they can serve people who can’t afford their services. And we are the only source that we know of in the US to provide scholarship support for students of the alternative healing arts.
By supporting the alternative healing community, creating more healers and raising the awareness and mass consciousness of the positive benefits of alternative healing, we are moving closer to realizing its full potential. Please help us to support alternative healing.
