BBSH YEAR 4 SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

The 2010 Year 4 Graduating Class of the Barbara Brennan School of Healing together with Our Weeping Angel Foundation has created a scholarship fund for students in future Year 4 graduating classes at BBSH. The fund has been conceived and structured solely by the students of the Year 4 graduating class of 2010 and is independent of the school.

Donations made to this fund are specifically earmarked for students who are enrolled in Year 4 of either the Professional Studies Diploma program or the Bachelor of Science Degree program and who have declared financial need. These scholarships are not designed to fully cover tuition for any one student, but rather, to assist financially and energetically those students who are facing financial distress in the final stretch of a committed professional course of study. Scholarships awarded will be paid directly to the offices of the Barbara Brennan School of Healing and are for unpaid tuition expenses only.

The individual scholarship amount will roughly correspond to the amount of one payment of the monthly tuition payment plan available through BBSH. There will be a limited number of scholarships available each year. When the number of qualified applicants exceeds the number of available scholarships, a lottery system will determine who will receive the money. Monies raised beyond the number of scholarships available will roll over to the next year’s scholarship pool.

Scholarship applications are due between June 1st and July 15th.

Applicants will be notified of scholarship awards on or about September 15th.

Payment will be credited to the outstanding tuition balance no later than November 1st.

Requirements for BBSH Year 4 Scholarship Applicants

  1. An applicant must be enrolled for Year 4 studies and have paid the tuition deposit.
  2. An applicant must have a remaining tuition balance to which the scholarship monies can be applied. Scholarships are for tuition only and will be paid directly to the offices of BBSH.
  3. An applicant must consider himself or herself in true financial need.
  4. Applications cannot be submitted to OWAF until registration for Year 4 studies has occurred. However, applications must be received by OWAF no later than July 15th.
  5. It is requested that recipients of scholarship funds send a brief testimonial to OWAF letting them know how the monies impacted their healing journey. This can be done anonymously and anonymity will be maintained with the general public.

Agreement between OWAF and the Scholarship Committee of the Year 4 Graduating Class of 2010

  1. Donors and Recipients of scholarship funds will remain anonymous to the students and faculty of BBSH. Great care will be taken to protect anonymity in all communications regarding scholarship funds. OWAF and the BBSH offices will have the names of recipients in order to verify the student is registered and meets the requirements. This information will not be made public.
  2. OWAF will annually post on the website the amount of money raised as well as the number of scholarships disbursed specifically for Year 4 students.
  3. The scholarship committee will decide on the amount of each individual scholarship (intended to correlate to the amount of one monthly payment plan payment) as well as the number of scholarships. When these numbers are determined in June, we the committee will give this information to OWAF.
  4. If there are more applicants than scholarships available the recipients will be determined by a random lottery drawn by OWAF.
  5. If there is more money raised than scholarships disbursed it will roll over to the scholarship fund for the following year.
  6. There will be only one application deadline and one disbursement date per school year for this fund.
  7. The Scholarship Committee will determine a contact person from the Graduating Class of 2010 to help the leadership of the Class of 2011 to navigate communication with OWAF and BBSH.
  8. Once the Graduating Class of 2010 has presented our Gift (consisting of the initial scholarship monies as well as the structure of the fund) to the school, we will open donations to the general public; including but not limited to the student body, alumni, family and friends. OWAF will have clear information on their website specific to this program so that people can donate directly online.
